A player contract does more than set out remuneration. It defines training and participation duties, bonuses, releases, image and name rights, outside activities, termination and what happens after an injury. For a player, the figure on the page is therefore only one part of the agreement.
Youth players raise additional questions. Age, capacity to make decisions, legal representation, school or vocational training and the actual training burden must be considered together. An agreement should address these areas in a way that supports the player’s development.
This page is for players, parents and adult youth players who want to understand a draft contract. It distinguishes the ordinary player contract from the future specialist page on minors and does not replace a review of the specific agreement.
